The
Domaine Le Clôt is situated on the slopes of the ‘Pic de Montalet’, the
highest summit of the department. An old farm with a surface of about 3
hectares. In the lintel above the entrance door the year 1824 is
chiselled. The place must be inhabited much longer. Just before the
house is a Celtic ‘dolmen’, a grave-site from about 800 BC, under three
centennial beeches.
Domaine Le Clôt has a campsite with 22
emplacements, a little restaurant and a cottage for rent. In the old
farmhouse we do live ourselves. The Domaine has pasture fields where
our donkeys live. All around are meadows and woods. In the summertime
you will find bilberries and wild strawberries. In the autumn you can
find many kinds of mushrooms in the woods. Also the famous ‘cèpe’, a
delicacy, if well prepared.
Through the site flows a little
stream with sparkling clear water. There is our own source who gives us
the water we need. The word ‘clôt’ does mean in the old ‘occitan’
language: place with much water and many sources.
The site is situated at 999 metres altitude.
