The southern pathway (GR 653) is one of the four french routes that lead the pilgrims to Compostella. It crosses the country of the language of “Oc” which is characterized by roman civilisation and stages of religious wars. This route across the south offers a variety of landscapes, colours, and emotions containing many contrasts. The pathway Paris-Tours This route connects Paris with Ostabat, in the Atlantic Pyrenees. At the moment, an inventory is being made of all sites where Jacques has stayed. The pathway of Vézelay (GR 654, GR 65) Is currently getting improved. The GR 654 connects Namur (Belgium) and Roncevaux (Spain). It will join the GR 65. Genève-Le Puy and Via Podiensis (GR 65) These routes follow the GR 65 for 1080 km, between Switzerland in the Haute-Loire and Roncevaux. The pathway of Arles (GR 653) 701 km, along the GR 653. Divided in 26 stages, this route connects Arles with the pass of Somport and joins the Camino francès in Puente de la Reina, in Spain. |

Between the Mediterranean sea and the Atlantic ocean At the doorstep of the regional parc the Haut-Languedoc, this part of the GR 653 crosses scenic villages: from St. Gervais-sur-Mare and its stairway alleys to Murat-sur-Vèbre (24 km) and its House of “jacquets”. The route continues (22 km) and passes La Salvetat-sur-Agout, ancient “shelter”. |
